Lake Arvo is an artificial lake between the Melillo and Cardoneto mountains; it is 8.7 km long and its perimeter is 24 km.
It was created between 1927 and 1931, barring the Arvo river and the Bufalo and Fiego streams in order to create a hydroelectric basin through the use of a dam in solid earth. Its waters are inhabited by trout, perch, eel, tench, churb and carp. It is possible to catch sight of royal seagulls, grey herons, mallards, ospreys and common stilts all the yearlong. The flora of the surrounding woods is characterised by Pinus nigra laricio and Fagus spp. . These woods are inhabited by wolves, foxes, roe deers, boars, martens, stone martens, badgers, black woodpeckers, buzzards and goshawks.
