Museo del cedro/Citron Museum

The citron museum is located in the town of Santa Maria del Cedro and collects what it is necessary to know about the cultivation, art and history of this citrus. There are many didactic panels inside the building which show the phases of production of this fruit and are supported by two different exhibitions:
– The artistic path is rich in ceramic panels, which tell the history of the fruit and make references to the Bible, to Jewish traditions, to recipes and to literature;
– The archaeological path tells how citrons arrived in Italy from Laos, a colony of Magna Grecia, which is now an archaeological site.
