Olmitello spring is the natural lengthening of the healing spring of Nitrodi and it is located in a valley behind Maronti beach in the municipality of Barano d’Ischia. It is reachable from Maronti Beach or Sant’Angelo by taxi-boat or along the sandy shore. The water’s qualities of the spring (bicarbonate-sulphate-alkaline) have been known since ancient times and were thought capable of smoothing gallstones and have them excreted. Many studied have been made along the years, like the ones of doctor Giulio Jasolino who listed already in 1588 the benefits of this water for illnesses related to stomach, eyes, palpitations, fever and arthritis.
