The “Parco Grancia” is a natural-educational area which develops on a surface of 50 hectares divided in 6 areas equipped and used to host concerts, exhibitions, theatre performances, illustrations of antique professions and displays of products typical of the rural tradition of Basilicata. As a matter of fact, it is a travel through history in a suggestive naturalistic scenery, which is told by costumed characters, like bandits or soldiers, located along the wood’s walkways. It is possible to attend to exhibitions and see different species of birds of prays along “Sentiero dei Rapaci “, while flight demonstrations with master falconers can be watched in “Anfiteatro delle Aquile”. The Puppet Theatre offers shows for children, which include musical fables, concerts and carousels; artisans show the traditional professions of their homelands in the market. “Parco Grancia” offers also the Cinespettaccolo “La Storia Bandita”, a great folk theatre representation with more than 400 participants between performers and background actors, which is performed in summer in the forest with the Norman castle of Brindisi Montagna as background. Knights, dancers and actors are supported by film screenings on water and mountain and by pyrotechnic effects, which bring the spactators back to the time of peasant revolts and Brigandage of the Risorgimento. In addition, the park offers to children on sundays the so called “Mondo di Magia”, a programme rich in games and entertainment, recreational workshops, theatre and outdoor sport activities.
