The works of art exhibited in the 30-acre Casilino Labicano Park, are part of the urban redevelopment of the Roman district of Prenestino-Labicano. The park was originally donated to the city by Filippo de Sanctis, in 1942.
Ever since the first opening to the public (1994), the park has been constantly remodeled and improved. In 2003, the new Sculpture Park was added. The latter features five sculptures, including the glass crescent moon by Costas Varotsos, and the exedra in weathering steel by Carlo Lorenzetti; these two unique creations have ideally established a connection with the ruins of Elena’s mausoleum in the background, and with the surrounding massive buildings.
