Parco Provinciale del Monte Fuso has an extension of 45 hectares, at the top of Monte Lavacchio, in the fraction of  Scurano in the municipality of Neviano degli Arduini (PR) . It is characterised by broadleaves mixed forests (75% of the surface) and permanent lawns (25% ). The landscape is typical of the high hill– mountain areas. The maximum altitude is 960 metres, in the Southern part; the minimum one is  840 metres, in the Noth-East extremity.

It has been created in 1972, thank to the commitment of doctor Bruno Sassi, local veterinarian and Provincial administrator. The park is owned by the province of Parma. An agreement between Parchi del Ducato and the province of Parma has been signed in 2015 to get a coordinated management.

A  “Centro Faunistico” is present inside the park and it encloses about 60 ungulates: deers, chamoises and mouflons. Numerous arboreal, native species  are present: oaks, chestnut tree, cherry trees, nut trees, wild apple trees, hornbeams, ashes, wild pear trees, maple trees and lindens, among them “il Grande Tiglio”, a century old plant.
Among the bushes, there are hazelnut trees, hawthorns, cornel trees, laburnums, junipers, rosehips, charcoal broom, rowans.

Next to the fauna centre area, corrals have been relished to guard the animals in order to study the biodiversity and zoo technology of the Parma area: black Parma pigs, Cornigliese sheeps and Parma-Piacenza turkeys, with an educational path dedicated to pupils’ and groups’ visits.

Excursions on the CAI net are common in the park, as well as mountain biking with more than 70 km of cycle paths, horse riding, traditional archery, orienteering and many more activities.

At the visitors disposal: visitors centre and information point, bar-restaurant, equipped area for campers, a children playground, picnic area, educational room  and conference room.
