Riserva Naturale di Torrile e Trecasali is located in the municipalities of Torrile and Trecasali, in the North-East section of the province of Parma, and it interests a part of the oasis Lipu di Torrile (created in 1988 to favour the nesting and resting of common stilts). Reserve and oasis  are included inside a wider are in the lists SIC and ZPS of Rete Natura 2000. It was instituted in 2010 and it extends for 109 hectares, the reserve protects a wet area  on the left side of Parma stream (next to the decanting basins of Eridania sugar refinery), not so many kilometres away from Fontanili di Commenda, one of the last springs of Parma’s high flatland  and because of this it is considered one of the areas protected as site of community importance (“SIC ZPS IT4020017 Area delle risorgive di Viarolo, Bacini zuccherificio Torrile, fascia golenale del Po”). The principal aim is protecting and conserving naturalising environments and nesting-migration environments for birds.
