Flamingo Garden

Seeing people queueing on via dei Cappuccini 3, in Milan, is a common sight: behind the gate, there are several flamingoes who live on the premises of Villa Invernizzi which also houses its own Foundation.
That neoclassical palace, a property of the Invernizzi family, overlooks Corso Venezia 32 and is surrounded by a large garden in which 12 of the abovementioned birds were introduced in the 1970s. Very few people thought they would survive the harsh winter climate, as well as the typical sultry summer in Milan.
Quite surprisingly and thanks to a small lake, a special diet and some painstaking care, the 12 flamingoes have managed to survive ever since their inception and integrate into the very heart of Milan.
