Morterone Open Air Museum

In the mid-1980s, the “Amici di Morterone” association, from a small town at the foot of Mount Resegone (Lombard Prealps, between Bergamo and Lecco), promoted the “Arte Natura Poesia” festival, following a great idea of Epicarmo and Sostene Invernizzi. The small alpine village was thus transformed into an open-air museum, thanks to the installation of about thirty works of art (to date) which can “talk” with the territory.
To get a better idea, just have a look at the detailed complimentary brochure – which includes the map and the listing of all the artistic installations – available in front of the main church, or from the town hall.
The route to the museum is about 6 kilometre-long, across woods, meadows, mountain houses and along fascinating trails – an itinerary that can be done by car, stopping every now and then, eventually reaching the intriguing sculptures in the open air.
