Parco dei Fontanili Oasis

This oasis features a large and very interesting wetland, fed by spring water, as well as a large forest and small agricultural plots, covering a total of 62 acres.
The forest has a large number of wild black cherry trees (Prunus serotina), black locusts (Robinia pseudoacacia), red oaks (Quercus rubra), English oaks (Quercus robur), hornbeams (Carpinus betulus), birches (Betula spp.), and shrubs such as hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) and dog rose (Rosa canina).
In the wetland, there are black alders (Alnus glutinosa) and gray willows (Salix cinerea), and reeds – mainly bulrush (Typha latifolia), and swamp straw (Phragmites australis).
There are numerous species of birds. Among the birds of prey, there are common buzzards, kestrels and marsh harriers; in the woods, green woodpeckers, and great red woodpeckers. In the wetland among the reeds, there are numerous wild ducks, herons, and water rails.
