Regional Park of Alto Garda Bresciano

The Alto Garda Bresciano Regional Park is on the eastern side of the Giudicarie Bresciane mountains and covers an area of 94.5 acres.
These mountains are made up of corrugated sedimentary rocks folded into complex structures.
In the central part of the park flows the Toscolano Stream and there is Lake Valvestino, an artificial basin formed by the large dam of Ponte Cola. The latter, together with Lake Garda, contributes to mitigating the climate of the area

As a matter of fact, the local climate allows the growth of various plant species belonging to southern environments: along the shores of the lake there are olive trees (Olea europaea), citrus plants and holm oak woods (Quercus ilex), Spanish broom (Spartium junceum), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), oleanders (Nerium oleander), maples (Acer spp. ) and Scots pines (Pinus sylvestris).

Going upwards, visitors will find oaks (Quercus pubescens), sweet chestnuts (Castanea sativa), and finally beech woods (Fagus spp.) inhabited by numerous roe deers. At higher altitudes chamois and ibex are abundant.

A rich historical and cultural heritage represents an important added value to this green facility.
The town of Salò, for instance, is nestled in a deep gulf and offers a beautiful historic city center with the Palazzo della Magnifica Patria (1560), and the Nastro Azzurro Museum of military history.
Limone sul Garda, on the other hand, looks like a real small jewel with its typical lemon groves.
