Buggiano Castello is an ancient medieval town, in the centre of the Valdinievole, a partially hilly area between Lucca and Pistoia. In December 1972, a group of villagers founded the “Pro Buggiano Castello” Association (later renamed “Associazione Culturale Buggiano Castello”) – their aim is to promote Valdinievole and the town of Buggiano Castello through various activities and a wealth of information and resources about the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of this area in Tuscany.

The Association has also enhanced the village itself, restoring its medieval appearance and decorating it with several vegetable gardens and beautiful green spaces. Flowers, plants and creepers are, in fact, a most recurrent decorative element which is painstakingly taken care of by the whole community.
