Val d’Orcia Park

Val d’Orcia Park is a world heritage site; it’s also the natural evolution of the valley together with the cultural identity of the communities that have dwelled there for centuries. What makes Val d’Orcia quite unique is the result of the common vision of parties involved, namely the municipalities of Castiglione d’Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani, and San Quirico d’Orcia.
The countryside and the hills are the undisputed icons of the surrounding landscape, with numberless features and testaments to the interactions between mankind and nature.
The result of the union of those features is a fascinating setting where agriculture, cultivated fields, meadows and colourful vineyards are beautifully intertwined with quiet farmhouses, dirt roads, rows of cypresses and natural areas with unique geological peculiarities.
Abundant traces of ancient marine deposits are also still visible, thus Val d’Orcia can offer some sights of an ancient past as well.
