“Parco della Rimembranza” is a public garden located on the Turin hill, also commonly known as the “Maddalena Park” as it is located near the “Bric della Maddalena” summit, at 2.345 ft above sea level (the highest area in the whole city). It has an extension of about 222 acres. It includes a large panoramic square on the top of the hill, with the Victory Lighthouse in the centre, the Arboretum Taurinense, and a network of roads and pedestrian paths stretching for about 28 miles.

In the park, there are over 21.000 trees, many of which growing in the Arboretum: they are not all native species (such as conifers), but also the result of several experiments.
The first specimens were planted in 1924 to remember the fallen soldiers of the First World War, then some other were added from the 1920s to the 1950s – this time to observe the behaviour of exotic species on this very hill in Turing and follow a project conceived by Aldo Pavari.

The Arboretum Taurinense is thus an important source of study and research. It was created, in fact, like that of Vallombrosa, also with the specific purpose of verifying the rooting, the speed of growth, the resistance to diseases and all the forest characteristics of the planted species, especially in relation to their possible use for reforestation and the production of timber.
