Batasiolo Wines

Batasiolo is a winery of an unusually large size, located in La Morra, in the province of Cuneo. It produces two and a half million bottles a year and features 265 of its own vineyards – it is the largest producer of Barolo grapes in the Langhe area. All its vineyards have always had a great reputation, as they grow on land historically suited to high-quality viticulture.
In fact, the company was founded in 1978 from the merger of the Dogliani family winery and the historic Kiola winery (founded in the 1950s and consisting of 7 farmhouses): the management of the vineyards was separated from that of the wine cellar with the creation of the “Beni di Batasiolo” farm, for a total of 9 farmhouses. Despite all these changes, the inseparable link between farmers and their vineyards has always been thoroughly respected and protected within the new winemaking expanded facility.

The vineyards extend as far as the eye can see on the gentle slopes of the hills, carefully protected from hydrogeological instability; they offer an amazing sight, giving the very hills an ever-changing look as the seasons change.

During the winter, between the rows of vines, there are some grassy spaces interrupted only by the greyness of the bare branches; in spring, the plants turn light and glossy green, only to get darker in their mesmerizing shades as summer approaches.
However, autumn is the most fascinating time of the year: the shades of the foliage become more and more spectacular; as the days get shorter and the temperatures decrease, the leaves gradually turn to yellow, orange and then to bright red or burgundy: at some point, the hills appear entirely engulfed in breath-taking “flames”.
