Vietti Winery

This company was founded in the late XIX century by Carlo Vietti, in Castiglione Falletto (province of Cuneo), a small medieval town in the middle of one of the most suitable areas for growing grapes, in the Langhe territory – the Barolo area.
In 1919, his son Mario started producing the first wines bearing the family name, and selling them mainly in Italy.
Over the past forty years, the choices of Alfredo Currado, oenologist since 1952, who married Luciana Vietti in 1957, led to the company’s outstanding achievements; extremely focused and respectful of the whole Barolo area, he was also responsible for selecting and making wine from individual vineyards. Today, Luca Currado, Alfredo’s son, successfully continues this tradition.
The vineyards extend over an area of about 86 acres, featuring sandy-calcareous soils on the gentle slopes of the hills. The very vineyards have turned the whole landscape into something absolutely spectacular in all the seasons: brownish-grey winter shade alternate with the brighter colours of the warmer months and then the flaming tones of yellow, orange and red in the humid autumn days.
The cultivation of vines on these slopes also boosts thorough and knowledgeable management of the territory, mainly thanks to regular agricultural activities and clever prevention of hydrogeological instabilities.
The territory that encloses the orderly and well-tended vineyards is dominated by a splendid medieval fortress, built around the year 1000; the stronghold features a massive central tower that makes it visible even from several adjacent municipalities, including Serralunga.
