Viola Nursery

This company was founded in the first half of the XX century by Amilcare Viola, who wanted to experiment with the cultivation of fruit plants, such as the kernels of “Gentile delle Langhe” variety and the apples and pears imported from nearby France (where he had worked as a bricklayer). This facility became an actual nursery in 1974, when Amilcare’s son Roberto and his wife Rosalba began to produce ornamental plants, offering garden design and maintenance services as well.
Today, the nursery is managed by Amilcare’s nephew Daniele, who, over the years, has continued the search for fruit plant scions, including those scattered on our mountains, the ones introduced from America by his great-grandfather in 1850, some specimens recovered in some local convents, several modern ones, and his friends’ donations – all those scions come from stone-fruit, apple-wort, peculiar and lesser-known species.
The nursery offers a rich collection of ancient fruit trees as well, especially apple and chestnut plants.
