The Sacred Wood of Santa Maria Bangargia, less than 2 miles from the town of Collinas, is made of elms, poplars, secular olive trees and mastic trees. Among those beautiful plants, there’s the country church of Santa Maria Bangargia, also known as “Santa Maria e Forru”; a lively and heartfelt festival is dedicated to it in early September, attracting thousands of pilgrims and visitors every year.
