Mount S. Calogero Nature Reserve

Mount San Calogero, or more correctly “San Calogero mountain range”, is an imposing massif made of limestone and dolomite rock formations originating from the Mesozoic onwards.
The landscape, variegated and uneven from a geomorphological point of view, features different natural environments: the rocky one, the bush, the garrigue, and the prairie.
The challenging habitat of the rocky environment has allowed the growth of herbaceous or bushy species, often endemic, such as rock cabbage (Brassica rupestris), Euphorbia bivonae, Asperula rupestris, gromwells (Lithospermum sp.), Dianthus rupicola, Anthemis cupanina, Anthirrinum siculum, Iberis semperflorens, and other plants.
