Puez-Odle Natural Park is in Val di Funes (see dedicated page), between Val Gardena and Alta Badia. Val di Funes is almost completely uncontaminated and features a most unique charm thanks to its breathtaking views.

On some 25.000 acres, the park embraces the municipalities of Santa Cristina, Ortisei, Selva di Val Gardena, San Martino in Badia, Badia, Corvara, and Funes. At an average altitude of 8.000 ft above sea level, it offers the most unique natural sights.

Furthermore, all types of typical Dolomite rock formations and sediment layers can be found throughout the park.
The visitor centre, opened in 2009 in Santa Maddalena, provides tourists and visitors with a wealth of information, while the special “Wonders of nature” exhibition thoroughly covers the local fauna; another interesting exhibition, called “Touch the mountains”, is focused on the morphology and geology of the Dolomites.

FLORA

Many different species are abundant all over the park, such as larch and Norway spruce woods (locally known as “Peccete del Putia”), and vast expanses of stone pines (Pinus cembra). During the spring months, visitors can admire the blooms of pasque flowers (Pulsatilla spp.), snowbells (Soldanella spp.), and Crocus spp., which are replaced in summer by Labiatae and Scrofulariaceae.
