This 87.4-acre reserve can be found at an altitude between 1.725 – 1.738 ft above sea level.
It encompasses the four municipalities of Brissogne, Saint – Marcel, Quart, and Nus.
The wetland of Les Iles was acknowledged as a nature reserve in 1995, due to its importance as a popular resting and feeding site for migratory birds (and also hosting several nesting species) such as great egrets, purple herons, and little egrets.
Despite its humidity and cold temperatures, the reserve can be visited for most of the year, even during winter. The best seasons though, are spring and autumn, with mild weather and plenty of bird watching opportunities.
BOTANICAL FEATURES
Along the banks of the rivers, the landscape features Phragmites australis, Typha latifolia, and species belonging to the Juncus spp and Carex spp. genera.
