Alta Val Sangone Museum

The Alta Val Sangone (“Upper Sangone Valley”) ecomuseum is located within the Val Sangone mountain community, including the municipalities on which this facility is focused: Coazze, Giaveno, and Valgioie.

The ecomuseum is inside a building in the centre of town, where traditional living environments have been recreated, namely the interiors of a house, a school, and some weaving rooms.
Inside the same building, there’s also a diorama of the territory covered by the ecomuseum.
Master weaver Tessa, who’s now retired, is also involved with this museum as he has recently rebuilt an original wooden loom ready to be used.
Mr Tessa is a true expert in hemp weaving: during a visit to this museum, he usually demonstrates and talks about his art with sincere enthusiasm.

A textile workshop (along with the release of the first handbook dedicated to weaving) and a wood workshop in Coazze are soon to be built as well.
The history of bread, on the other hand, will be soon told by restoring and reusing the ovens of the Coazze hamlets – first of all, the one in Tonda, where a welcome point for visitors is also part of the project. A specific route will connect the other ovens in the hamlets of Coazze and some others in Valgioie and Giaveno.
