The bay of Sorgeto is located in the municipality of Forio d’Ischia. It is placed at the end of steep handholds for agave plants, on the western side of the isthmus of Sant’Angelo and it is reachable by boat or by a long staircase, whose access is located after a series of paths which fork in the fraction of Panza. The bay does not present the typical sandy beaches, but cliffs and pebbles, which create an open thermal park with boiling springs, saunas and therapeutic steams, whose access is free. Sea water gets mixed with the thermal one in Sorgeto, where there is a spring at the base of a crag and on its summit the Greeks from Eubea built a group of huts around the vineyard: this is testified by the study of the archaeological site Punta Chiarito. The islanders are used to cook eggs, potatoes and seafood in one of the small tanks from which the water flows. This is an ancient tradition, as it is possible to observe from the studies on the local archaeological findings. The most fascinating experience is bathing during the night in the mild waters and watching the stars. It is also possible to bath during Winter, since the mild temperatures allow to tan and bath during the coldest areas.

BEAUTY MUDS
A further peculiarity of the bay is the muds: it is possible to obtain a particular mud by rubbing a local stone, which ones spread on the skin makes it smooth and, because of the water heat, causes the pores dilatation which is excellent for natural skin cleaning. It is suggested to pay attention to burning with the stones of the sea shore, since the cliffs are always boiling and son it is recommended to put on suitable footwear.
