Barberino del Mugello Castle

Barberino Castle is in Barberino del Mugello (FI). Of medieval origin, it was transformed into a stately home during the 1400s. Surrounded by a forest of cypresses and chestnut trees, in 1915 it became a property of Luigi Dapples, who had a garden built by the architect Agenore Socini.
The castle, with its frescoed rooms, overlooks a courtyard bordered by Lebanon cedars (Cedrus libani).
The garden, built on sloping terraces, includes a “green theatre”, some open-air “rooms” bordered by boxwood (Buxus L.) and cypress hedges, an orchard, and a vegetable garden with nice pergolas.
Today, it is the official seat of the Municipality, often used for wedding ceremonies and official receptions.
