This nature reserve is a protected area established in 1972 by Trentino-Alto Adige. It stretches over 370 acres, in the northern portion of the Mount Baldo Mountain range, between 4.921 and 5.577 ft above sea level.

It features Jurassic limestones, stratified dolomite rocks and basaltic tuffs; during the glaciation, it emerged from the glaciers of Garda and Adige, thus becoming an oasis for many species of flowers that managed to survive the freezing temperatures and are still thriving today.
Among those “glacial endemic species”, there are tufted horned rampions (Physoplexis comosa), Paederota bonarota, orange lilies (Lilium bulbiferum), common turk’s cap lilies (Lilium martagon), Gymnadenia nigra and Gymnadenia rubra rare orchids, edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum), and alpine asters (Aster alpinus).

The reserve is also an important habitat for many wildlife species, including black grouses, kestrels, buzzards, eagles and roe deer.

How to reach the reserve:

Travelling from the north-east, take the provincial road from Mori (Trento) to Brentonico and San Valentino; Travelling from the south, take the Graziani road which runs across the Mount Baldo Mountain Range.
