Canalis Castle, also called “Castello della Costa”, is in an excellent panoramic position overlooking the surrounding area. The first wing of the castle, facing south-west, dates back to the XVI century, while other parts of the building were later added, eventually covering the surface of 5.346 square yards. The building passed into the hands of several owners, eventually acquired by the Vaglio family who installed a permanent furniture museum with an interesting collection of antique works of art.

THE GARDEN

The garden occupies an area of 360 square yards around the building. It can be accessed through an iron gate flanked by two columns which used to feature bronze horses (now replaced by seahorses).
The park contains terraces and gardens, with groups of plants, centuries-old specimens as well, such as cedars (Cedrus spp.). At the entrance, there are other conifers and an ancient elm (Ulmus spp.), while a row of yews (Taxus baccata) grows on the north side and east of the building.
The garden is traversed by an avenue leading to the belvedere: a green terrace overlooking the beautiful surrounding landscape.
