Located in the beautiful countryside of Biella, Cascina Torrine (once a wheat grinding mill), is specialized in the cultivation and reintroduction of aromatic plants and wild herbs, used for educational purposes and for mouth-watering menus. This facility is, in fact, acknowledged as an Educational Farm by the Piedmont Region, as well as a farm-stay resort.
Over 200 varieties of hot peppers originating from all over the world, thyme, lavender, special aromatic herbs, ancient and unusual vegetables are grown on the farm, collected with the help of F.lli Gramaglia nursery in Collegno (TO); everything is done to thoroughly safeguard, research and deepen the knowledge about all the precious features of every single plant. Such an interesting and valuable collection can be visited from June to October.
The farm also offers typical local dishes made with 100% locally produced natural ingredients; everything is enhanced by some of the abovementioned aromatic herbs grown on the farm.
This restaurant facility is open from Wednesday to Sunday, while reservations are recommended for dinner.
Many of the same ingredients used by the local chefs can be purchased on-site, like fresh and natural seasonal herbs and vegetables, meat, cheese, eggs, fruit juices and much more…
