Castèl Lemon Grove – Citrus Collection
This post is also available in: Italiano (Italian)
In the historic centre of Limone del Garda, on an area of 1.953 square yards, a lemon grove was built with enough protection against occasional cold winters. It’s still part of the heritage of the ancient cultivation of lemons in this part of the Brescia area, and it features the historical terraces built to protect this species. In XVIII and XIX century, lemon cultivation used to thrive around here, as Limone was the northernmost citrus production site in the world
In the 2000s, this structure underwent a conservative restoration mainly for safety purposes. All around the castle, there are many terraces offering the same, ideal environment to grow some 50 lemon trees, citrus, round kumquats, grapefruit, mandarins, chinotto.
