Castelli Romani Regional Park

Among the villages of the Castelli Romani area, Nemi is one of the most beautiful: reaching out towards the lake which goes under the same name, it is the perfect place for a peaceful and suggestive stroll, not too far from the capital city.
Starting from Genzano di Roma, simply take the road to Lake Nemi, and go past the Roman Ship Museum (Museo delle Navi Romane). Then, just over the moat bridge (behind a large pine), leave your car and take a steep, concrete road that runs next to the ruins of an old house; it then turns into a trail and plunges in the wood, intersecting the town of Nemi, and then a mule track that eventually goes all the way up to the Tempesta fountain. That is where you want to be, eventually: a wild place and one of the most beautiful in the Castelli Romani Park.
