Castle of Paderna presents itself as austere and with solid walls, which surround it and conserve the ancient, rich in water moat.
The first pieces of information about the castle date back to the beginning of the IX century and the first certain evidence is a notarial act dated 1028; another act with the date 1163 assigns the propriety of the building to the San Savino in Piacenza monastery, which has been preserved till 1453, when it was given to a family of Rimini, Marazzani, who detained it till it was handed to the current owners Pettorelli.

Its current aspect was created during the 15^th century, since a wide, indoor farm courtyard was built, the church of Santa Maria, which was then divided into two parts by a wall: one is in the southern area and has a wide plaza surrounded by annexed agricultural (stables, barns, porticos and hired hands’ houses); the other is in the northern area and it is divided into two other parts, one with the manor house, the well, the main tower and other inhabitations; the other with the chapel and a building through which it is possible to access the garden.
The towers occupy the corners of the whole structure, unlike the northern tower outside the castle walls, but inside the moat.
Nowadays, the estate is a biological farm, vegetable-garden with ancient varieties, fruit tree orchard, educational farm and venue of ancient fruits.

During October, a market-exhibition “Frutti Antichi” is organised, which is dedicate to the ancient varieties of vegetables, fruits, roses, to barnyard animals and handicraft products.
