Cottage Garden Beatrice Nursery

The small nursery of Stefania Annucci, is in Sorso, near Sassari; it’s actually next to a forest of oak and chestnut trees. It produces herbaceous perennial and annual plants for cutting, flowers for pollinating insects, and a collection of Papaveraceae.
It’s an intimate and charming nursery-studio, inspired by the Anglo-Saxon style, which takes its name from the beloved grandmother who taught Stefania how to love and manage plant cultivation.
Stefania is also a professional garden designer, constantly dedicated to creating useful and sustainable green areas, as well as to organizing training opportunities for enthusiasts. Stefania is currently developing a garden project for bees.
Her collection of poppies is particularly impressive; it includes Papaver orientalis ( native to Northern Turkey, Cucaso and Iran), Eschscholzia californica (native to the west coast of North America), Glaucium flavum (Mediterranean coastal origins), Papaver nudicaule (from subpolar regions of North America and Northern Europe), Meconopsis betonicifolia or blue poppy (from the Himalaya), and the national Papaver alpinum (widespread on Gran Sasso, Majella, Velino, Sirente, and Monti Marsicani).
There are also many varieties of Papaver orientalis (“Turkenlouis”, “Bolero”, ”Royal Wedding”, “Forncett Summer”, “Patti’s Plum”, “Brilliant”, “Garden Glory”, “Pinnacle”, “Perry’s White”, and “Haverst Moon”) to be cultivated in the sun with grasses, achillea, Delphinium, sage, catnips and iris; among the annual poppies, there are Papaver commutatum “Ladybird”, Papaver rhoeas “Dawn Chorus”, ”Falling in Love”, “Shirley”, and ”Mother of Pearl” – to be grown in partially shaded areas, on fresh and well-drained soil, along with Meconopsis, Aquilegie, Digitalis, and Hosta.
