De Capitani d’Arzago Palace

This XVII century building was actually built in 1924 by Carlo Ottavio Marchetti di Montestrutto.
It also overlooks via Cappuccio, and via Santa Valeria. It doesn’t look like a typical palace, rather an aristocratic country cottage.

In the garden on Via Santa Valeria, there are the original gates of the XVI century church of Saint Protaso ai Monaci; that very church used to be on via Saint Dalmazio and was demolished in 1929.
On this street, there was also the prison where Sister Virginia de Leyva (the Nun of Monza described by Alessandro Manzoni) was kept for years and died (after redemption, as she had refused to return to her monastery in Monza).
