Della Ratta Palace

Palazzo Della Ratta, now known as “Centonze”, belonged to the noble Della Ratta family from Barcelona and now extinct. Their coat of arms is still visible on the facade of the building, characterized by the decoration of the arch above the door, embellished with weaved water leaves. The whole building was made with golden marly limestone.

A small garden of about 598 square yards can be found inside the palace. Its paths intersect each other, delimiting the flower beds planted with several fruit trees: oranges (Citrus × sinensis), lemons (Citrus × limon), and medlars (Mespilus germanica) thus grow within the low stone walls.

In a shady corner, there is a square-shaped well: on its sides, it features a fish and two lush trees, the symbols of the triumph of water and earth. From the garden, a staircase reaches some rooms carved into the stone, once used as cisterns and storage for oil.
