It is a territory located along the coast of the Adriatic Sea in Emilia Romagna, between the ancient salt mines and an important pine wood, which has been a natural park till 1963. The museum is located in the historic building “Magazzino del Sale «Torre»”, which was built in XVII century and has been recently completely refurbished.
The aim of the museum is to collect and present objects, photographs, paper documents, texts related to the experience and to the “salinara” civilization of Cervia. However, the museum wanted to go beyond collecting and so started configuring a portal to access the cultural experience and to testify the historical-ethnographic identity of the city. In other terms, the museum did not want to build a complete expositive path, but they wanted to realise a starting point to make deeper and more complex researches. This function is pursued through a wide use of multimedia and computer instruments, such as hypertexts. These elements allow to enlarge the museum’s perspective till including all the relations between the 4 principal topos: salt – water – humans – place; telematics of technical-artisanal knowledge, the city’s memory, the territory anthropization are all included in the museum path .
