Fattoria la Valentina is located in the municipality of Spoltore on the Pescara hills. It was established in 1990 as a small vineyard, and it has grown ever since; it now is a 30 hectares vineyard.

The company mainly owns three vineyards: one in Spoltore, one in Scafa and San Valentino and the Binomio vineyard in San Valentino.

This area has a Mediterranean climate, with typical temperatures and precipitations. However, the vicinity of the coast of Abruzzo and of the Apennines creates currents with limited variations in temperature. The wind sensibly reduces the occurrence of the most common plant diseases caused by atmospheric humidity.

In the Pescara valley, since the climate doesn’t suffer the cold of the Apennines, the temperatures rise but the precipitation diminish sensibly as one gets near to the coast. This is the ideal land to produce Montepulciano.

The ground, with its exposition and composition is another important factor in production; the lands of Montepulciano extend along the whole hill area of Abruzzo. In general, the ground of this area is made up of clays, clay and calcareous marls, medium sandstones mixed with their own debris caused by chemical and meteoric flaking.

In order to safeguard this territory, particular attention is paid to the theme of sustainability, that has always had a fundamental role in the history and culture of the company. The main objective is to produce with the least possible environmental impact, reducing the use of water and energy, but also producing in a responsible way with regard to the environment: wine is a product of nature.

The production protocol doesn’t envisage the use of chemical and artificial products and it doesn’t allow any technological manipulation: everything is done with respect towards the environment and the harmony of the ecosystem. The energy used comes from renewable sources, with no fossil fuels that would cause CO₂ emissions.
