Fontodi is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, in the valley that opens to the south of the town of Panzano, in the province of Florence, known as the “Conca d’oro” (“golden basin”).
The company has belonged to the Manetti family since 1968, and it is dedicated to the production of the famous “Impruneta” terracotta. The Manettis have recently turned their attention also to more painstaking cultivation of the vineyards in the area, deepening their precious knowledge about Sangiovese grapes from Panzano.

The company terroir is unique, renowned for centuries for its vocation for high-quality viticulture thanks to the high altitude, the marly soils, the great sun exposure, and a unique microclimate – warm, dry and with a wide temperature range.

Fondoti is a certified organic company that covers 321 acres – 70 of them reserved to the vineyards. The farming techniques are aimed at respecting the environment and the surrounding areas as much as possible, while they’re inspired by the true principles of eco-sustainability. That is to say, artificial additives and farming products are strictly avoided, while Fondoti constantly tries to simply make the most of its own natural resources, also minimizing any outside interference.

For instance, vineyards are fertilized with compost obtained by mixing pruning waste with manure from Chianina cows – bred by this very farm as well.
