Campigna Forest

The Forest of Campigna can be found among the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Mount Falterona and Mount Campigna. It was created in 1993 on the Apennines, along the border with Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, namely between the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Arezzo, and Florence. The Forest of Campigna thus falls partly in Tuscany – in the province of Arezzo, and partly in Emilia Romagna – in the province of Forlì.

This wondrous forest is made of oaks and deciduous broad-leaved trees. Many are the suggested discovery paths, also featuring ancient mule tracks, sacred places and ancient villages. They include:

1st Route “From Campigna to Camaldoli
2nd Route “From the Hut to Mount Falterona – Lake of the Idols – Capo d’Arno
3rd Route “From Campigna to Villaneta
4th Route “From Campigna to Cullacce
5th Route “From Campigna to Burraia Meadows

Campigna (AR) is a small tourist and ski resort which includes a marvellous XVIII century grand-ducal palace, transformed into a hotel but used as a hunting residence until 1800 by the House of Lorraine.
The local forest management office, like the one in Camaldoli and in Badia Prataglia, houses a naturalistic museum open on request.
