Bagni di Petriolo is just 20 minutes from Siena, along the banks of the Farma River, in the woods a few steps from Basso Merse Nature Reserve. There are still some ruins of the ancient walls built in 1404.

Those small natural pools are fed by sulphurous waters coming come straight from the subsoil; far from the banks, they cool down, merging with the river. Those waters feature healing properties especially for motor, respiratory and skin diseases, but are not recommended for people with circulation problems.
Unfortunately, Bagni di Petriolo is a facility left to itself: only a private association of citizens currently does its best to keep it open to the public.
