Garofoli Winery

Garofoli winery, with its registered office in Loreto and administrative headquarters in Castelfidardo (where the winery is also located), is in the province of Ancona and one of the oldest in Italy.

The production of wine started in the Garofoli family back in 1871 by Antonino, the forefather of these high-quality products. It was actually his son Gioacchino to found the company, in 1901.
The Garofoli way of work has always been the same and the results are high-quality wines, constantly updated farming techniques, as well as full respect to local winemaking traditions and history.

The grapes used come partly from the four owned vineyards (Verdicchio, Montepulciano, and Trebbiano varieties), and partly from the same local farmers who have worked for years for the Garofolis.

The grapes are grown on a total area of 124 acres in the municipalities of Montecarotto, Ancona and Castelfidardo. In each vineyard, at a different height, there are unique pedological features; in Montecarotto, for instance, the soil found at some 186 ft above sea level is of medium texture and suitable for the guyot training system. On the other hand, in the farms of Patemo and Massignano – in the municipality of Ancona – the optimal training system is the so-called “spurred cordon”, on a medium-textured, clayey and calcareous soil.
Finally, in Acquaviva and Castelfidardo, the soil is of medium texture and the vines are cultivated with the peculiar “double pergola” technique.
