Giardini Italo Pietra

This long green area stretches along Corso Concordia, Corso Indipendenza, Corso Plebisciti and Viale Argonne, in Milan.
The original urban layout, intertwined with roads, residential areas and green spaces, was designed by engineer Cesare Beruto in 1889. In 1956, “Pinocchio Bambino” (“Baby Pinocchio”), a statue of Attilio Fagioli, was placed on Corso Indipendenza.
In 2016, these gardens were dedicated are to the Italian partisan-journalist Italo Pietra. Along the green stretch, there are a lot of wondrous plants, like horse chestnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum), nettle trees (Celtis australis), Atlas cedars (Cedrus atlantica), deodar cedars (Cedrus deodara), evergreen magnolias (Magnolia grandiflora), currants (Ribes spp.), lindens (Tilia spp.), large-leaved limes (Tilia platyphyllos), and small-leaved limes (Tilia cordata); among the shrub species there are white hornbeams (Carpinus betulus), common hazels (Corylus avellana) and Japanese cheesewoods (Pittosporum tobira).
