The garden of Villa Comunale di Ripacandida (PZ) rises up in the area, where there was a Franciscan convent’s orchard of the 17th century. This place is also called “ Giardino Storico di San Francesco di Assisi”, it is suitable for meditation and it is rich in centuries-old trees and stone pavilions. The garden is crossed by a double boulevard of holm oaks, ashes, horse chestnuts and magnolias. Among the most relevant trees it is possible to count an enormous Pinus halepensis, which is 400 years old, 35 meters tall and has a trunk circumference over 5 meters, and, on the left side of an ancient church, a big Tilia europaea, 12 meters tall, with a circumference of 4 meters.
It is possible to find a little labyrinth of box hedges on an elevated space; in the surrounding area Buxus sempervirens, orami arborescenti, Taxus baccata, three impressive sequoias (two of them are 16 and 18 meters tall)
