Govone Royal Castle – Spontaneous Tulip Collection

The Castle of Govone, in the province of Cuneo, is surrounded by an XVIII century Italian garden with flower beds, fountains, and horse chestnut flanked avenues with carpets of wild tulips growing spontaneously; there are, for instance, Tulipa oculus-solis, commonly called sun’s-eye tulips, which bless with their wondrous read shades the whole undergrowth around the trees.
