Isola Pepe Verde is a shared garden located in the Isola district, which used to be historic working-class neighbourhood now undergoing major transformations.
It is another example of privately managed gardens on behalf of the Municipality in the heart of Milan. The original project was born in June 2010, by some residents who had been longing for some green area, after years spent among bleak and oppressive concrete buildings.
The area selected for this project was partly covered by asphalt, State-owned, unused and neglected. The Pepe Verde Association seized this perfect opportunity and was granted the management of the entire area by the Municipality in the spring of 2013.
