This facility is located within the Ticino Park, among Magenta, Boffalora Ticino, and Robecco sul Naviglio. Once a hunting lodge, it now stretches on about 1.235 acres forests, meadows, lakes, and wetlands; it also houses the first Park Center, opened in 1990.
It is the most iconic part of Ticino Park, home to most of the Authority’s operational activities, and the best area for tourists.
In 1974, the park was created and hunting was officially banned. In 1984, the Park Authority purchased a large part of the ancient reserve and gradually transformed it into a Park Center. Renovated in 2015, it now includes an educational arboretum near the entrance.
Several trails go across the area, including the Arboretum Path to observe the native plant species including oaks (Quercus robur), wild cherry trees (Prunus avium), hornbeams (Carpinus betulus), and alders ( Alnus spp. )
La Fagiana Reserve is also an important wildlife center, and the heart of protection projects for Roe Deers, Danube roach fish, marble trouts, and sturgeons. It houses the Center for the recovery of wildlife, managed by the LIPU (Italian Bird Protection League).
