La Thuile Wood
This post is also available in: Italiano (Italian)
Around the village of La Thuile, with the roofs of the old houses covered with the typical small grey tiles (called “la thuile” in French), there’s a large forest of fir trees (Abies alba), partly occupied by the ski resort slopes and facilities. Further down, some beautiful spotted orchids (Dactylorhiza maculata), quite rare and officially protected, usually bloom in early summer. Among the many suggested paths, the one leading to the three Rutor waterfalls (1 hour long) is strongly recommended.
