Lake Sirio

In the alpine region between the towns of Ivrea and Chiaverano, there’s Lake Sirio, formerly known as “Lake San Giuseppe” due to the convent a hill overlooking this very pool of water.
Together with Lago Nero, Lago Pistono, Lago San Michele, and Lago di Campagna, Lago Sirio is part of the Five Lakes of the Serra di Ivrea. They are all of glacial origin, but only Lake Sirio is the one fed by a spring.

The lake is surrounded by an asphalted road which makes it ideal for walks. It is also possible to walk along the “Anello del Lago Sirio” (“Ring of Lake Sirio”) and the “Terre Traballanti” path (“Shaky Lands”), a nature trail on country roads designed to discover the scenic beauty, as well as the local flora and fauna. Around the lake, there are also several vegetable gardens, orchards, gardens, and nice meadows where tourists usually sunbathe during the summer.

It is an ideal destination to escape a hot and sultry week spent in the city.
