Le Pupille Winery

Le Pupille was born in the southern part of Tuscany, on the hills of Maremma, namely in Pereta. It’s a renowned winery that has expanded over time and now works with a total 1.037 acres, 185 of which reserved to its vineyard.
Although the historical roots of the company are in Pereta, the operational HQ has been near Istia d’ Ombrone, on the outskirts of Grosseto, since 2000. It’s basically an ancient farmhouse surrounded by a large English lawn and numberless flowers, as it can also be seen on some of the company’s wine labels.
The winery began to make itself known around the world in 1987, when the first Saffredi label, the company’s iconic wine, was launched on the market. Elisabetta Geppetti is the true soul and the “ambassador” of the winery, having inherited her passion for viticulture from her family traditions.
There are four vineyards in total, each one with unique features; Morellino vineyards, between Pereta and Magliano – with very different soil composition – are dedicated to the production of Sangiovese, Alicante, Malvasia near, and Ciliegiolo grapes. Then, there’s Saffredi vineyard, about 820 ft above sea level, in the area around Pereta, specialized in the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah; San Vittorio e Vignacci vineyards, feature white grape varieties only, like Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon; last but not least, Poggio Valente vineyard, 34.5 acres at 918 ft, is where Sangiovese and Merlot are produced.
