Lignano Castle

This castle is in Frassinello, on a hill in the Monferrato area. Among the oldest in this area, it currently consists of a series of buildings partly intended for the patronal residence, partly for the management of agricultural activities.
The castle dates back to the Middle Ages but an original nucleus was probably built during the Roman period. Rebuilt in medieval times, in the XII century, it was reconstructed again after 1553 and transformed several times. In 1974, it was restored to its original status.
The castle retains original features, in fair conditions of conservation both inside and outside, and is surrounded by a small park.
Today, it is a modern farm with 210 acres, mostly planted with vineyards cultivated according to modern agronomic and enological techniques.
