Maculan Winery in Breganze

Maculan is a family of three generations of winemakers using best grapes from Breganze, a municipality in the province of Vicenza, in one of the most important areas for wine production in Veneto.
That is, in fact, one of the most beautiful places of this region, blessed with by the wondrous architecture of Palladian Villas. It is also where the wealthiest people of the Serenissima Republic of Venice used to spend their summers in the ancient times – enjoying, of course, also the excellent local wines and the mild, while never excessively sultry climate.
As a matter of fact, behind this area, there’s the Asiago plateau which offers natural protection resulting in a very mild climate – which has always been particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines and olives.
The farm currently works with 27 acres of vineyards in Breganze, and some other 59 acres leased in the surrounding DOC (controlled denomination of origin) area. It also buys highly selected grapes from a total of 123 acres of other vineyards.
The Maculan winery is in the historic centre of Breganze and it is one of the best examples of the successful mix of ancient traditions and state-of-the-art winemaking techniques.
The cellars have kept the original brick vaults, under which the precious Maculan wines rest in exquisite wooden barrels.
