Monserrato Park

This park of Sassari has always been the largest of the noble properties in the whole city. The ancient farmhouse is still visible today and has been recently restored and refitted as a refreshment area for visitors.

The park was built in 2007, on a natural slope and decorated with walls, artificial inclines, and some escarpments. It can be accessed all year round, also thanks to several external sheltered structures, such as a quaint pergola.

Inside the 15-acre park, there are many shrub and tree species arranged into most spectacular sights and views of the surrounding city. There are palm trees, citrus fruits (Citrus spp.), carob trees (Ceratonia siliqua), olive trees (Olea europaea), narrow-leaved mock privets (Phillyrea angustifolia), pomegranates (Punica granatum), magnolias (Magnolia spp.), cypresses (Cupressus spp.), willows (Salix spp.), holm oaks (Quercus ilex), lime trees (Tilia spp.), pines (Pinus spp.), European horse chestnuts (Aesculus hippocastanum), and long rows of mastic trees (Pistacia lentiscus).
